Prophetic Documenting
You Need Tools
YOU NEED TOOLS
We have covered quite a bit! Now that you've had time to reflect on what you hope to accomplish with your scribal project and how you would like to preserve it, its time to gather your tools! Organization begins now, not after you collect your documents. A critical aspect of documentation is "caring for" your project as you go. Remember that discussion?
So, let's take a second to make a list of the tools you need right now. I may have told you that I am creating a scrapbook style project. It will include printed material, artifacts, a few objects, and digital content (images, and video). These tools are used to help me organize content as I obtain it AND protect my scribal project. When I'm done, I can always go back and look at how I might present what I've found.
These are the tools I am working with right now:
- Internet Connection (Due to social distancing, I am conducting my interviews online)
- Zoom Meetings (For recording and storing my interviews digitally until I can download them, edit and burn to a DVD.)
- Webcam (I use Logitech C270)
- Microphone for the Computer (TONOR Gaming Microphone)
- iPhone for taking photos
- iPhone for scanning documents (Scanner App)
- 3-inch binders (I have two)
- Binder pockets with Inserts (for collecting news clippings/artifacts)
- Binder Sleeves
- DVDs (for saving the interviews & images later)
- Dividers (for organizing and sectioning my project)
- Composition Notebooks for notetaking, planning, etc.
Remember, you have been tasked with not only documenting, but storing your documents and preserving them. So these tools reflect my initial effort to preserve the artifacts.
The list above consists of items I already have. As a scribe, I keep some office supply items nearby. Please note, however, that your tools or supply list may not look anything like this! That's okay. The idea is that you identify what you need to protect your content. Show that you care for the burden the Lord has given you.
Remember, there is a SCIENCE to preserving your artifacts. We are only touching the basics. Again, just remember to "care" for your project.
Finally, the DOCUMENT ANALYSIS WORKSHEETS below are in PUBLIC DOMAIN which means they are free to use and distribute with no restrictions courtesy of the National Archives federal site here in the United States. Use them as tools to assist you with cataloging and documenting your projects. These forms cover the type of documentation that preserves history. There are people who love history. These documents show just how detailed they are.
While these forms are based on the United States National Archives, they are useful to ANYONE seriously seeking to capture all the information concerning their documents that give them credibility.
