I have mentored many writing prophets who become discouraged because they believe they "have no voice." Whether by email, voice messages on social media, in person visits at conferences or what have you, people are grieved by a lack of audience. Is this concern valid? Well, of course it is!

But we also need to have the right perspective on this as well.

When people say "they have no voice" as we discuss it here, they are really saying, "NO ONE LISTENS TO ME! No one respects my ministry or takes it seriously!" My initial response is always to ask to questions, "To whom are you speaking? How are you reaching your audience?" With this question, I can generally identify the problem(s) or obstacles they face.

What I often discover, however, is that the prophetic writer (1) has no defined audience; (2) is trying to be heard in an environment that has no interest in the message; (3) there's no real effort to build and audience; (4) there is often a pattern of inconsistency in releasing their voice in written form publicly; (5) the skill level of the writer is limited; and (6) there's a lack of technological skill concerning social media platforms and the way messages are disseminated in our time.

I could write a separate post for each of the areas I have mentioned above. That, however, is way to time consuming. Instead, I decided to flip this conversation to discuss solutions that would answer those areas.

Helping people find YOU in situations like this IS POSSIBLE using some very practical solutions. My view is based on my own hard knocks as well as over a decade of mentoring prophetic writers, observing their habits and even assessing their spiritual maturity as it relates to their calling to write.

Move your writings outside of your local church, prayer group, family environments, etc. if the individuals or groups are uninterested in your messages. In some environments, the community simply may not be interested in that part of your life or calling. While it is hurtful, writing prophets may need to expand their territory to IDENTIFY THOSE who are interested in the clear, timely message the Lord is releasing through you. Listen, familiarity is a common problem in groups that have already formed a particular view of who you are. If Jesus had no voice in His hometown among those who should have known Him best, we should not be surprised when it happens to us. Jesus had to leave that environment and go into a new place to proclaim his message and find His audience.

Write and publish consistently. Listen, I understand that many prophetic writers believe they can only "write when God speaks." I absolutely believe this is true as it relates to releasing prophecy. The key is this: Every time the Lord releases a prophetic word, prophecy, teaching, etc. to share, publish the writing to a blog. This isn't optional for the serious writing prophet. Creating an online repository of public prophetic releases is necessary in this day and time. People need a "go-to" place TO FIND YOU that is regularly updated to follow your ministry. (Read my articles, on "Consistency, The Dirty Word of Progress, Rewards of Consistency & Persistence Builds Consistency.")

Post your messages regularly on social media platforms. This might require creating a page or group in which you share your blogs or messages. Remember, a group of five people is just as important as a group of thousands. Do not despise small beginnings. Every time you post to your blog, make sure you are posting to your social media pages as well. (I have consistently blogged since 2002 concerning the ministry of the scribe here.) I meet people daily who find me simply by searching topics on prophetic scribes, scribal prophets and prophetic writing. There are people in my life right now who would never have found me I had I not been obedient to this assignment. There are absolutely NO EXCUSES. The kinds of people you are WRITING FOR will find you!

Being confused by social media is not an excuse not to use it for ministry. Take the time to learn the basics or get the money to hire a virtual assistant to post for you. This is fairly inexpensive in this day and time. Check out sites like Upwork.

Advance your skill level if you struggle as a writer. Remember, the Lord is looking for skilled and filled writing prophets. Write from where you are! But as you continue to publish get the skills needed if you are not by nature a skilled writer. It is also okay to hire an editor, or have a team of friends review for comprehension and tone of your posts. Check out sites like Fiverr for quick help.

The most important thing to do is publish your work within the environment you influence. As you develop a consistent presence, you might consider marketing your message to reach more people.

Listen, the bottom line is this: People respect writers who produce quality content on a schedule. If you are not publishing, you cannot build the audience or gain the traction needed to cast your net to those who desperate to find you. WHAT YOU PUBLISH POSITIONS YOU AS A VOICE IN THE AREA IN WHICH YOU ARE ASSIGNED! All you need is a plan, a blog and quality material.
