EXPANDING THE CALL OF THE WRITING PROPHET

Last week you learned about Christ, The Ultimate Scribe. (If you have not reviewed that lecture, I strongly encourage you to do so before moving ahead.) There's a level of understanding that is needed to bring clarity to this session.

So here goes!

Christ is the ULTIMATE apostle (emissary), prophet, evangelist (proclaimer), pastor (shepherd) and teacher (scribal type). He is the highest standard of all of these positions of authority in the scriptures (Hebrews 3:1-6). We must reconcile that there is NO HUMAN IN ALL OF TIME whose calling as a prophet could ever compare to the calling of Christ as prophet or any other office found in scripture. He really is the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

We learned last week that a prophecy went forth declaring that Christ was given THE GREATEST SCRIBAL MANDATE OF ALL TIME -- to "PUT THE LAW IN THEIR MINDS AND WRITE IT ON THEIR HEARTS" (Jeremiah 31:33-34). I want you to know that the declarations in this prophecy were deliberate. The word WRITE (engrave, carve, scribe, impress, etc.) was chosen for a reason. In addition, we see TWO parts to this prophetic word: (1) there is a putting or placing the Law in our mind; and (2) there is a writing of the Law on the heart.

I have come to understand that the "putting the law in their mind" in this time was about the spoken word and demonstration; and the writing aspect is specific to recording, making memorials, telling stories and leaving a tangible legacy. The prophet Jeremiah was clarifying the ways in which the Lord would speak to His people in the New Covenant.

But where did this come from?

Well, we see that this NEW prophecy is formed from a profound revelation and command given to Moses in Deuteronomy 6:1-9. It reads: "These are the commands, decrees and laws the Lord your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. Hear, Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you. Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 WRITE THEM ON THE DOOR FRAMES OF YOUR HOUSES AND ON YOUR GATES!"

After reading this passage, we can see that the Law of Jeremiah's prophecy is the same law of Moses's instructions from God. We also see the same two parts: (1) putting or placing the Law in our mind; and there is a writing the Law on our door frames and gates!

What is the point of this comparison?

Well, I want you to see that THE PRIMARY FUNCTION OF A "WRITING" PROPHET is to create a memorial for REMEMBRANCE concerning the things God has promised, spoken and revealed concerning His people. Now, as you go back and review your notes and look at the prophets we have addressed -- I want you to see these GOD'S CRY FOR REMEMBRANCE AND RECALL CONCERNING HIS HEART AND INTENTION FOR HIS PEOPLE to come forth!

Listen, we can now say that prophets speak orally into the hearing and mind of the people of God. But we can also say that WRITING PROPHETS BEAR THE BURDEN of creating a memorial or legacy that is meant to be RECALLED in a tangible form and record in the earth... at whatever ever release that prophet is called to write. Most people only teach about the "realm of legislation" for the prophet, but as you can see in this lesson -- this is ONLY ONE of its many dimensions. And get this, MAKING A MEMORIAL specifically for the purpose of remembrance and recall is the writing prophets HIGHEST PRIORITY. God leaves His writings.... through His prophets as a witness and a testimony to who He is in the earth.

We are not just writing to awaken people, we are making FULL BLOWN MEMORIALS for generations to come. WE ARE GOD'S SCRIBES! WE ARE GOD'S SCROLLS! WE ARE GOD'S PENS! WE ARE GOD'S LIVING EPISTLES! And we stand under the mantle of the ULTIMATE SCRIBE!
