A SACRED CEREMONY
The Weight of Your Scribal Election
THE WEIGHT OF SCRIBAL MINISTRY
Now that you've learned about the Scribes of Old, Students are challenged to consider the weight of scribal ministry in the 21st century. This lessons focuses on the weight of scribal ministry, and includes several reflective exercises.
John 15:18-25 NIV, "1If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin."
Prophetic ministry runs along a broad spectrum from the office of the prophet to the activation of the prophetic gift among the sons of God. Strength in our prophetic gifting does not rest in our abilities and talents, but in our commitment and dedication to lives set apart for the Lord.
As potential teachers, we must always remember this truth: We worship Christ, not the gifts we so graciously have been given.
We must also realize that the journey assigned to us can range from the powerful love running through the prophetic that builds and comforts the church or fiercely chastise it. The key for those in this program is learning to embrace and uphold whatever facet or location in the Body of Christ to which they have been assigned in purity and in church.
Our goal in our faith is not simply to produce a book, prophesy the walls down over a nation or demonstrate God's will through a play or skit, but to ensure that everything we do IN HIS NAME is a part of our DNA. We are image and likeness, salt and light before we are anything else.... and the gifts and callings given to us are simply catalysts to bring forth the "image and likeness" and the "salt and light." If we miss this critical truth, then everything before us is done in vain.
The School of the Scribe needs instructors who really love God through "obedience" to carry His heart. The impartation that potential teachers will have is to release "Christ's will, heart and mind" within the gifting and calling - not just an understanding of the gift and the call. If we only focus on that then we will have a generation of people that equate "gifting alone as evidence of ministry." And that, I believe, would break the Lord's heart.
The beginning of Ephesians 4:1 reminds us to live lives that are worthy of our calling. For me, living worthy means that "I, Theresa" only want to do what is holy, righteous and acceptable before the Lord - not because I have to follow the rules, but because I love the Lord enough to desperately pursue what He loves. Likeness and image uphold the standard of spiritual maturity. It means that I am making every effort to represent Christ's love walk and character. I am determined to be image and likeness at all costs.
DECIDE TO MAKE THE EFFORT! It is worth it.
