OVERCOMING IGNORANCE

Let's have some real talk. Most scribes I've encountered over the years are extremely self-consumed with their personal projects, church and ministry activities. This isn't negative, but it does become a challenge when the Lord stretches us beyond the walls of the church.

You see, many prophetic scribes are disconnected from world around them.

They are not aware of the latest trends in Christian entertainment, and even more outdated as it relates to trending scribal issues in the secular realm. If there is one thing I admire about the scribes of the Bible, it is that they were extremely connected to the world around them - be it Babylon, Egypt, Syria or Rome. Scribal prophets and the apostles were particularly knowledgeable concerning everything from the political climate to commerce. Even Othniel had the privilege of overtaking the CITY OF BOOKS... become a part of King David's administration! And let's not forget that King David was the first king to build extensive repositories (or what we call libraries and governmental archives).

My point is this: There is a calling to be WELL-ROUNDED SCRIBES. We can be fully immersed in Christ and well-aware of the world around us. We can work professional jobs in the natural realm under SUPERNATURAL insight in completing the work, resolving problems, etc. We can use what we learn to become light-posts in a dying world, and by providing supernatural solutions to secular problems.

Don't fear learning from the world system. God ordained Daniel to learn in Babylon and empowered him with the wisdom to do so. With Holy Spirit guiding us in our immersion, the knowledge we gain increases our skill level, helps us to understand situations/circumstances.... and can become intel for our journey.

The assignments following this lesson are about learning more about the "scribal world" around us. In particularly, we are going to focus on book publishing and film. You may use this approach to explore other areas of scribal ministry as well.

PERSONAL TESTIMONY: Throughout my life, the Lord has always made sure that I was immersed in secular and sacred environments with my faith at the center. I've been one who has been welcomed. Even now, I minister and teach within the Christian faith-based community, within the secular community and within all the communities in between.

My scribal calling makes room for me - mostly because of how I have grown to understand its role.

I am also one who GOES wherever the Lord sends me -- even into areas that would make many Christian's uncomfortable. There's quite a bit of judgment in the Christian community. There's this belief that EVERYTHING has to look like church in order for it to be God. But let me tell you, GOD IS MOVING IN PLACES THAT WOULD SHOCK many.... and prayerfully cause them to rethink WHY the do ministry the way they do. Because of the VASTNESS AND INFLUENCE of the prophetic scribe in todays culture ranging from entertainment to social media to education.... we are positioned in a way is critical for the 21st century. As we move through this course, I will continue to share elements of this journey.

In the images below, I was advocating for a sexual assault bill to pass through the house. Unfortunately, I am on the other end of the camera in the images I shared below. This door (and nearly a decade of relationship) opened to me after I was led to share a poem with the director of a sex trafficking organization here in Atlanta. I ended up serving on their board of directors, serving hundreds of girls as a minister and advocate in this specific arena. I also cowrote several national curriculums that are used in advocacy groups around the U.S.
