Understanding Plagiarism & Copyright
ADDRESSING PLAGIARISM & COPYRIGHT FOR PROPHETIC SCRIBES
Plagiarism and copyright violation are critical issues in the academic, literary, and creative arts. On our Facebook page and inside the book below, we cite real cases that have made headlines. In particular, plagiarism is becoming an increasing moral and ethical issue among believers especially in this technological revolution. What we need to understand, however, is that plagiarism is an intrinsically a scribal issue, especially since scribal ministry in its administrative, instructional and creative forms run through every major vein of society (professionally, academically, and spiritually).
Our focus may be in the apostolic-prophetic realm, but we are a school. We should also know that EVERY intrinsically educational environment has a plagiarism policy and mandate. The School of the Scribe is no different. Understanding plagiarism is a part of the prophetic scribe's journey.
Navigating the issue of plagiarism in the 21st century congregation is a pioneering endeavor for all involved. Not because it is new, but because it falls on the backdrop of this technological age where issues of intellectual property rights are still evolving.
As scribes, we have the opportunity to set the standard for how we respond to these issues now. After all, proper attribution and/or citation is critical to securing legacy, documenting history and holding people accountable for their contribution to community.
